The lion is an animal that is not strange to Vietnamese people. Since the Ly - Tran dynasties, lion statues were introduced to Vietnam following the missionary path (Buddhism) from India. The lion statues in historical and cultural relics of this period are extremely kind: wide mouths are smiling, teeth bared to show joy, the overall lines are strongly stylized, but the details are still soft curves, stylized images.

During the Le Dynasty, along with the strong spread of Confucianism, the Dong Kinh - Lam Kinh visual art with patterns of cloud dragons and fire swords was introduced. Since then, the image of the lion has become stronger and more sophisticated, but it also does not show off its fangs or claws; On the contrary, each detail is softer, not showing muscles but brimming with spiritual vitality through the fire blade pattern.

The Lion painting depicts the image of a lion from the Le Dynasty, bearing the imprint of the patterns of this period. The moving layer gives the image more vitality, stepping on clouds and glowing, showing a strong and powerful spirit also escape the world according to the spirit of Buddhism.
