In the year of Nham Tuat (1802), Gia Long Nguyen Anh unified the mountains and rivers, establishing the Nguyen dynasty that lasted 143 years in Vietnamese history. The work of establishing that empire was very difficult, and the heroic efforts of the nobles cannot be denied; Among them, we must mention "Gia Dinh's five tiger generals" with famous names such as Phuc Than Le Van Duyet - The most noble mandarin who came from a eunuch; Truong Tan Buu - doing his best for God to fight the South and suppress the North; Nguyen Huynh Duc - A loyal heart, traveling with Lord Nguyen; talented naval general Nguyen Van Truong - left Tay Son to follow Lord Nguyen; and illiterate "Quan Lon Sen" Nguyen Van Nhon - at the age of 50, still succeeds in studying.
That Son Thien ho is famous for its anecdotes about the white tiger - the spirit beast that rules the native mountains. The five tigers correspond to the Five Elements in the belief in worshiping the Mother Goddess of the Four Palaces. They are said to be mountain gods symbolizing strength, sacredness and majesty.
That Son region had five tigers, just like the Nguyen dynasty had five tigers generals.
